Strip springs

Two out of three cars produced worldwide are fitted with KERN-LIEBERS parts.

Power springs

Power springs are used in many industries as a resetting element that provides torque that increases at a linear rate.

As a global market leader, the KERN-LIEBERS group of companies manufactures and supplies the full range of power springs, from the smallest to the largest.

  • Spring width: 1.8 – 100 mm
  • Spring thickness: 0.05 – 3.0 mm
  • Material: Martensitic steels and special alloys, textured carbon and stainless steels
  • Service life: Up to 500,000 load cycles (typical applications require 100,000 – 200,000 cycles)
  • Torque increases at a linear rate

The special feature of the Maximo power spring is that the combination of winding forward and then back increases the power density, making maximum use of the available material properties. The machinery and equipment required for this special

process is developed and built internally at KERN-LIEBERS.

  • Spring width: 1.8 – 100 mm
  • Spring thickness: 0.05 – 0.55 mm
  • Material: Textured carbon and stainless steels
  • Service life: Up to 500,000 load cycle (typical applications require 100,000 – 200,000 cycles)
  • Up to 50 working rotations
  • Flat characteristic curve in the work area, low hysteresis
  • The material volume is fully exploited at maximum torque
  • Characteristic S-shape in unwound exposed position
  •

Typical applications of Maximo springs include:

The classic power spring retains its importance to this day. Power springs are used where space constraints and the size of the spring do not allow the use of Maximo springs, or where they are required by specific customer applications.

These springs are wound by machines developed and built by KERN-LIEBERS.

  • Spring width: 1.8 – 100 mm
